It is often said that there are heroes and legends, heroes are remembered but legends never die. Every country has a sport that represents strength, unity and pride. In South Africa that sport is rugby. Although the sport has always been in the spotlight politically, the national team has always made South Africa proud.
Since 1995 the springboks have won three rugby world cup titles with the most recent triumph coming in 2019 making the springboks the current world champions. This week we sit down with a former springbok and world cup winner who also had a successful club career playing for one of the most dominant South African domestic rugby teams the Blue Bulls.
Be sure to tune in for this week’s podcast episode to listen to the conversation with this South African sporting legend Akona Ndungane. Akona and brother Odwa who is also a former professional rugby player currently run a player management agency for young players called Zingisa management to guide the next generation of players through their careers.
Along with the player agency the brothers are also giving back to the community with the founding of the Ndungane twins foundation. The foundation is centered around assisting players from disadvantaged backgrounds to fulfil their potential.
